Nehru Trophy Boat Race is a world famous boat race which is held in the Punnamada Lake situated in the Alappuzha, Kerala, India. ‘ Vallamkali ‘ or ‘Vallam Kali’ is the Malayalam word for Boat Race. The trophy was awarded first by none other than the first Indian Prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru in 1952 during his visit in the Kerala. It is the competition of Chundan Vallams or ‘Chundan’ boats. They finished the race in 4:43:02 minutes. There were many VIPs in the spectators.
